"Having a liking for Italy, the food and people I thought I'd give a local eatery a go for our anniversary.
From the outside this is a very unassuming restaurant but inside the decor is great.
We went in on a Saturday at about 6 and there weren't many people in there, so we had a choice of table.
We were given plenty of time to browse the menu and a quick glance up had our drinks order taken, a little more time and we ordered starters. I had the capaccio and my wife had the antipasti selection. A few sips of the Peroni and the starters arrived.
The first thing that struck me was the size of the portion...was I going to be able to eat a main after this? A very large portion and the taste was out of this world. My wife thoroughly enjoyed hers as well.
Next up was a half litre of house red and a jug of water, then came the main course.
I had opted for the veal with a side of potato's and Karen ordered pasta. We were not disappointed. Very tasty and again a good size portion.
By the time we got started on the main course the restaurant had started filling up and someone (I assume the owner) was making a point of going to every table where food was being eaten to make sure everything was fine. Trust me it was!
The service we had was second to none.
For dessert we went for the Vin Santo and biscuits. Very nice and then a machiatto espresso to round it all off.
2 beers, half litre of house red, 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 espresso's came to £92. Given the service, the quality of food and the portions this was money very well spent. The whole event made a lovely way to spend our anniversary.
My only criticism (and to many this would actually be a plus point) was the speed of service. Don't get me wrong you weren't rushed but I do like to have a fair bit of time between courses. But as |I say whilst food was delivered quickly the meal wasn't rushed and the food was certainly fresh cooked.
The food, the ambience, the decor and the accents actually put me back in Italy!
We will definitely be going back and would have no hesitation in recommending to family & friends.

"i booked a table for this evening 06/11/10 at 7pm i found it very easy to book and the gentleman on the other end was very polite. When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated straight away and the male waiter was very pleasent. We ordered our wine and was offered water to accompy our meal which was lovely. We both ordered a starter and a main and we were both very impressed with our food it was hot on arrival to our table and we both finished both courses
The ambience of the restaurant was lovely and it was very enjoyable, the staff were well presented and very polite. When paying our bill i was asked if it was a special occasion and, as it was my birthday, the waiter congratulated me and wished me a happy birthday. He wished us a good evening and said good evening; very polite young man. I would like to congratulate you on a lovely restaurant which i will most
definately be visiting again and will recommend to others."

"We went last night for our Wedding Anniversary. The food was absolutely wonderful. There is a comprehensive menu - something to suit everyone. I had Tagliatelle Funghi for my main course and I could have eaten it 10 times over (if I had room!) because it was so delicious!! Hubby had lasagne and it was still piping hot by the time he finished (which he didn't quite do as it is quite large!). All washed down with the smoothest Valpolicella I've ever tasted. The only moan I would have is the price - it is a bit steep (£80 for the two of us), so it is only a special occasion venue for us. However I don't think, if you like Italian, that you can find anywhere better."

Everytime we have eaten at Trattoria Rustica, we have had fabulously, lovely and tasty food as well as the comfort of a friendly atmosphere (even when our 18 month old got grumpy when he was tired). Defintely our favourite resturant in Norwich
